Baseball Recap: River Valley Takes a Loss

River Valley had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-8 to make it four. They fell just short of the New Buffalo Bison by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bison this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-0 loss on Tuesday.

As for New Buffalo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since June 1, 2024.

For New Buffalo's part, Braedan Bergerson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Bergerson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.

Bergerson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Bowen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, River Valley will venture away from home to face off against Our Lady of the Lake Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs are facing the Lakers at the right time seeing as the Lakers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for New Buffalo, they will be playing at home against Eau Claire at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bison will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: the Beavers will have lost nine straight heading into Friday's game.
