Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Saranac's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Saranac had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Saranac Lake Red Storm as they made off with a 7-1 victory. Considering the Spartans have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Austin Lareau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Seth Petrashune, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Landon Giroux, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Saranac has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Saranac Lake, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

As of now, neither Saranac nor the Red Storm have any future games scheduled.
