Baseball Recap: Hampshire Has No Trouble Against Wayne County

Hampshire barely beat Wayne County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Hampshire Hawks' way against the Wayne County Wildcats on Tuesday as the Hampshire Hawks made off with an 8-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-7 on Tuesday.

Therin Brown and Keaon Nicholson did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double, while Nicholson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Nicholson a new career-high in RBI (two). Kasen Anderson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Hampshire pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wayne County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Hampshire will take on Fayetteville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hampshire is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Wayne County, they will head out on the road to face off against Loretto at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
