Basketball Game Preview: Jeannette Jayhawks vs. Bentworth Bearcats

Jeannette has gone 5-0 against Bentworth recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Jeannette Jayhawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Bentworth Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. Jeannette has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Jeannette is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to California for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-43 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-25.

Jayce Powell had an outrageously good game as he went 10 for 19 on his way to 22 points and five steals. Powell is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kymone Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten assists.

Meanwhile, Bentworth came up short against Riverview on Friday and fell 56-47. While the Bearcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 12-7 in the first quarter.

Jeannette will have to keep a close watch on Ben Hays and Christopher Harper, a pair of players who had a big impact on Bentworth's prior game. Hays posted 21 points and four steals, while Harper had nine points and six steals. With that strong performance, Harper is now averaging an impressive 2.6 steals per game.

Even though they lost, Bentworth was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jeannette's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33 points. As for Bentworth, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Jeannette against Bentworth in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, as the squad secured a 76-30 victory. Will Jeannette repeat their success, or does Bentworth have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
