Baseball Recap: Washington Takes a Loss

Washington couldn't beat Chaminade on Saturday even though they stacked six runs on them in the third inning. The Bluejays fell 12-8 to the Red Devils. Bluejays fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Red Devils since on Saturday.

Washington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Hummel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was Hummel's first of the season. Another was Henry Vedder, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Washington has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Chaminade, their victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-15.

Looking ahead, Washington will head out to face off against Fort Zumwalt North at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chaminade, they will welcome Christian Brothers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering the Red Devils have lost four straight at home and the Cadets six straight on the road, this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.
