Montgomery and Porter are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Montgomery Bears will be playing at home against the Porter Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Montgomery proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Santa Fe 5-4. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Montgomery got a great performance from Cason Irwin as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Karson Nelson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Chase Hiatt was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Porter came up short against Barbers Hill on Saturday and fell 9-4.

Montgomery's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Porter, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Montgomery took their victory against Porter in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 10-3. Will Montgomery repeat their success, or does Porter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
