Softball Game Preview: Combs Coyotes vs. Apache Junction Prospectors + Official Tickets

Combs and Apache Junction are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Coyotes will face off against the Prospectors at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Combs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

While Combs' win against ALA - Gilbert North wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Coyotes narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Eagles 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Coyotes.

Kayleigh Snyder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ellie Snyder was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Melissa Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Apache Junction was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against Valley Christian, falling 27-0.

Combs' win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Apache Junction, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Everything went Combs' way against Apache Junction in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Combs made off with a 19-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Coyotes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
