Northeastern gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Eastern Hancock as they made off with an 11-3 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Knights have posted against the Royals since May 16, 2016.

Meanwhile, Cambridge City Lincoln hadn't done well against Centerville recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Golden Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Bulldogs.

Ben Bates made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Bates was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April.

In other batting news, Carson Hawk and Noah Patterson did most of the damage at the plate: Hawk went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Patterson went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Patterson is becoming a predictor of Cambridge City Lincoln's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).
