Softball Game Preview: East Brunswick Bears vs. Ewing Blue Devils

The East Brunswick Bears will head out to challenge the Ewing Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Brunswick will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

East Brunswick is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Kennedy Memorial get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Ewing hadn't done well against Hightstown recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-0 victory. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Abbie Mahan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Mahan was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Sydney Mahan and Peyton Hansbury did most of the damage at the plate: Sydney went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Hansbury went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Mahan has posted since back in April. Emma Morris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Ewing was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hightstown only posted a batting average of .227.

East Brunswick's record now sits at 17-8. As for Ewing, their record is now 7-14.
