Basketball Recap: River Islands Takes a Loss

River Islands lost against Ripon Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The River Islands Riptide took a blow against the Ripon Christian Knights, falling 70-39. The Riptide were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.

Several Riptide players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charles Mapanao, who posted ten points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Euan Costales, who earned eight points.

Jake Vander Veen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ripon Christian, putting up 17 points. Vander Veen's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Amos Cady was another key player, scoring 13 points.

River Islands' defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Ripon Christian, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

River Islands has already played their next matchup (against Venture Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ripon Christian has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Ripon.
