Baseball Recap: Polytech Extends Winning Streak to Five

Polytech waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Seaford Bluejays. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Elijiah Benton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Asher Grubb was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cameron Allen, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Polytech pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Seaford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Polytech will welcome McKean at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Seaford, they are taking a road trip to square off against Delmarva Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
