Softball Recap: Santana Wins Going Away Against Academy of Our Lady of Peace

While Santana didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots 7-1 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Sultans have won by exactly six runs.

Bella Zuckerman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, McKenna Miller was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Samantha Mora was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Miller wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Santana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Santana and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Santana will welcome Mira Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Mira Mesa will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Santana surely won't give up without a fight. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they will be taking part in a tournament against La Costa Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. La Costa Canyon's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Academy of Our Lady of Peace's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
