Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mansfield Summit

Mansfield Summit strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Valley View Eagles 11-3.

Lane Palmer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mario Castillo was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jayden Ownby, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Mansfield Summit hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Mansfield Summit's record now sits at 3-0. As for Valley View, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Mansfield Summit will be taking part in a tournament against Palo Duro at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Valley View, they will take on Paradise in a tournament on Friday.
