Softball Game Preview: Mendon Unity Mustangs vs. Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes

The Mendon Unity Mustangs will head out to square off against the Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mendon Unity is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight games dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 13-4 to Camp Point Central.

Mendon Unity saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Spilker, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another was Allyson Murphy, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Griggsville-Perry came up short against Rushville-Industry on Tuesday, falling 17-5. The Tornadoes have struggled against the Rockets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Mendon Unity's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Griggsville-Perry, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-2.

Mendon Unity beat Griggsville-Perry 6-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
