League recap: Casa Grande's league-best three wins lead to standings climb

North Bay league recap: 5/22/13

Casa Grande had a successful week, as it won three total games to lead the league. The Gauchos beat Rancho Cotate 5-4, Pinole Valley 4-1 and Cardinal Newman 2-1.

Casa Grande (25-2, 13-1) has won four games in a row, North Bay's longest active win streak. The streak was extended by another three games over the past week,.

The Cardinals continue to give up the least hits to opposing lineups this season, after surrendering only six in the past week. For the entire year, Cardinal Newman has given up only 148 base hits in 27 games.

Six batters hit over .400 this week. Leading the pack was Kevin McGuiggan, who hit .800 by going 4-for-5.



The week's strikeout crown belonged to James Proctor, who turned in six Ks for the Cardinals. With 47 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks seventh in the league.
