Baseball Recap: Leonard Comes Up Short

Leonard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They came up short against the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in February.

Shawn Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Samuel Nunez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Leonard's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leonard will take on Lake Worth Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Defenders have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they will face off against Santaluces at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chiefs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.77 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
