Softball Recap: South Newton Takes a Loss

After flying high against DeMotte Christian on Monday, South Newton came back down to earth. The Rebels took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Iroquois West Raiders on Tuesday. The Rebels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

South Newton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kimber Cruz, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

South Newton has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Iroquois West, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season.

South Newton will host Frontier at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Iroquois West, they are taking a road trip to square off against Milford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
