Football Game Preview: Calhoun Red Devils vs. Valley Lumberjacks

The Calhoun Red Devils will take on the Valley Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Calhoun and eight for Valley dating back to last season.

Calhoun's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Clay County on Friday. They had to suffer through a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Panthers. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Red Devils were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Valley scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to Cameron at home by a 50-36 margin. Even if the Lumberjacks couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Calhoun took a serious blow against Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 63-27. Thankfully for the Red Devils, Gavin Derby (who rushed for 241 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 157 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 88.9% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
