Volleyball Recap: South Granville Starts Season with Win Against Oxford Prep

South Granville had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Oxford Prep Griffins on Monday. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Griffins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23.

Leading South Granville to victory were Larah Preddy and Tatum Currin. Preddy had 12 digs and four aces, while Currin had seven digs and three aces. Those 12 digs gave Preddy a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: South Granville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 26 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Granville will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Louisburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Oxford Prep, they will square off against Woods Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
