Chino Hills closing in on state, national titles; DeSoto surges after Texas 6A title win over Atascocita.

MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Boys Basketball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard

1. (No. 1 last week) Chino Hills (Calif.), 32-0
Three wins away from state and national titles, Chino Hills meets Foothills Christian (El Cajon) for the third time this season Tuesday in regional semifinal play. The Huskies dominated Immanuel (Reedley) 103-71 in the opening round.

2. (2) Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), 42-1
Regular season complete. The Warriors get Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah) in the opening round at Dick's Sporting Goods High School Nationals on March 31.

3. (3) Montverde Academy (Fla.), 25-1
Regular season complete. Plays No. 9 Providence Day in opener at Dick's Nationals.

4. (5) St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.), 30-0
Postseason demons were exorcised Saturday as St. Anthony locked up Roselle Catholic 53-37. The Friars have suffered season-ending losses to Roselle Catholic each of the past three years.



5. (6) U-D Jesuit (Detroit, Mich.), 23-0
Following a 59-50 win over Renaissance (Detroit) on Friday, the Cubs are four wins away from a state title. Unbeaten bubble team Macomb (Dakota) looms on the same side of the Class A bracket.

6. (7) Stevens Point (Wis.), 26-0
The Panthers are on a tear in Wisconsin's Division 1 state playoffs, winning four contests by an average margin of 40.2 points.

7. (8) Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), 28-1
Regular season complete. Meets Georgia Class AAAAA state champ Miller Grove (Lithonia) in the opening round at Dick's Nationals.

8. (9) St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.), 34-1
Arnaldo Toro earned MVP honors as the Gray Bees captured the St. James Invitational over the weekend. St. Benedict's Prep beat Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.) in the final 61-57.

9. (11) Providence Day (Charlotte, N.C.), 30-3
NCISAA Class 3A state champions. Take on No. 3 Montverde Academy in opening round at Dick's Nationals.

10. (13) La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), 25-3
Regular season complete. Paired up with No. 8 St. Benedict's Prep in the opening round at Dick's Nationals.



11. (14) Greenforest (Decatur, Ga.), 30-2
Season complete. Georgia Class A state champions.

12. (15) H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.), 33-0
Season complete. DCIAA (league) and DCSAA (city) champions.

13. (23) DeSoto (Texas), 36-2
The Eagles make a big leap after dominating then-No. 4 Atascocita 73-54 in the Texas Class 6A title game.

14. (20) Hopkins (Minnetonka, Minn.), 31-1
Head coach Ken Novak won his seventh state title at Hopkins as the Royals beat Lakeville North 64-55 on Saturday. Tied at halftime, Hopkins went on a 15-0 run in the second half to break things open.

15. (4) Atascocita (Humble, Texas), 38-1
It's hard not to feel for the Eagles, who are 73-3 over the past two seasons without a state title to show for it.

16. (18) DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), 32-5
This will be painful to see for St. John's (Washington, D.C.), who beat DeMatha twice and won the WCAC regular season and conference titles. But St. John's stumbled while the Stags surged late, going 6-0 in the Maryland private school state tournament and the Alhambra Catholic Invitational.



17. (19) Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.), 25-5
Jayson Tatum threw up 45 points Saturday against his dad's team, Christian Brothers (St. Louis), to help the Red Devils advance to Missouri's Class 5 semifinals.

18. (21) Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (Chattanooga, Tenn.), 27-3
Season complete. NACA Division 1 champions.

19. (23) Simeon (Chicago), 28-3
The Wolverines are three wins away from the Class 4A state title in Illinois.

20. (24) Althoff Catholic (Belleville, Ill.), 29-2
Althoff roared to a sectional title with win margins of 25, 25, 38 and 14, respectively. The Crusaders are in Class 3A so won't meet No. 19 Simeon but could face formerly-ranked Morgan Park in the state championship game.

21. (25) Memphis East (Memphis, Tenn.), 29-2
Opens Class AAA state tournament play Wednesday against Hillsboro.

22. (NR) Lancaster (Texas), 36-2
After suffering back-to-back losses in November, the Tigers reeled off 32 wins in a row en route to the Texas Class 5A state title. Lancaster is 70-6 over the past two seasons with a pair of state crowns.



23. (NR) Overland (Aurora, Colo.), 25-3
Head coach Danny Fisher's Trailblazers are 48-8 over the past two seasons with a pair of Colorado Class 5A state titles. Overland unexpectedly stumbled a few times in-state this year, but was nails against out-of-state opponents with wins over teams from California, Florida, Nebraska, Nevada and Utah.

24. (NR) Bingham (South Jordan, Utah), 24-2
Utah's Class 5A state champions lost to No. 23 Overland and Copper Hills (West Jordan) this season – the latter being avenged not once, not twice but three times.

25. (NR) Westlake (Atlanta, Ga.), 27-4
Keep a close eye on these Lions heading into 2016-17. Westlake closed out the season with 12 wins in a row and expects to return HoopSeen Class AAAAAA All-Staters Chuma Okeke (6-8, Jr., F) and Jamie Lewis (6-3, So., G).

Dropped out: No. 10 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), No. 12 Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, N.J.), No. 16 Apple Valley (Minn.), No. 17 St. John's (Washington, D.C.)
