Baseball Game Preview: Clifton Cubs vs. Glen Rose Tigers

The Clifton Cubs will venture away from home to challenge the Glen Rose Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clifton has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clifton lost 13-1 to West back in March. The defeat continues a trend for the Cubs in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Glen Rose, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Stephenville 5-4 on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Cullen Kickhoefer was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Glen Rose is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 10-11 otherwise. Kickhoefer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mikey Porter, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Glen Rose back to even at 12-12. As for Clifton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11-2.

Clifton might still be hurting after the 19-2 defeat they got from Glen Rose in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
