Softball Recap: University Wildcats vs. Crenshaw Cougars

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but University had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Crenshaw Cougars. Considering University has won five games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kayla Carpenter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carpenter has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Carpenter was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Sage Gray was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sarai Garcia, who went 3-for-3 with three RBI.

University has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Crenshaw, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.

As of now, neither University nor Crenshaw have any future games scheduled.
