Basketball Recap: Kael Collver's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Frewsburg over Panama

Frewsburg played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 74-54 to the Panama Panthers. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kael Collver, who went 5-for-12 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds. Collver has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Blake Weaver, who posted 12 points and four steals.

Panama's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Hinsdale, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten assists. That's the most points Hinsdale has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Mescall, who scored 15 points and three steals.

Frewsburg now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Panama, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frewsburg will challenge Dunkirk at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Panama, they will take on Cheektowaga at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
