Rockwood is 8-2 against Meyersdale since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rockets will take on the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Rockwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Meyersdale will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Rockwood extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Rockets walked away with a 9-6 victory over Shanksville Stonycreek. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Nathan Show made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Eli Show was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-2. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Davis Bruening, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Meyersdale was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of Northern Bedford County by a score of 4-2.
Aiden Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Meyersdale saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Sechler, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Rockwood pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 8.8 runs this season. As for Meyersdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Rockwood beat Meyersdale 9-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
