Basketball Game Preview: Crystal River Pirates vs. Springstead Eagles

The Crystal River Pirates will challenge the Springstead Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Crystal River was beaten by Lecanto 74-41. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Springstead over Nature Coast Tech in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Springstead blew Nature Coast Tech out of the water with a 60-17 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 24 points or more this season.

Springstead has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Crystal River, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Crystal River was taken down by Springstead 53-24 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Springstead's Ariana Willoughby, who posted 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
