Preview: Woodlawn vs. Chicago Vocational Cavaliers
Woodlawn has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Thursday. They will challenge the Chicago Vocational Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. Chicago Vocational took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Woodlawn, who comes in off a win.
Even though Woodlawn has not done well against South Shore International recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Woodlawn blew past South Shore International, posting a 60-26 victory at home.
Meanwhile, Chicago Vocational pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Urban Prep-Bronzeville.
Ron Thigpen put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 21 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kendaro Cassidy, who scored 12 points.
Woodlawn has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 3-0 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Chicago Vocational, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Woodlawn came up short against Chicago Vocational in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 64-58. Can Woodlawn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
