Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Loris

Loris had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Marlboro County Bulldogs. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 4-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Aiden Suggs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Loris is 6-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Suggs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Gore, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was McKinley Ray, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Loris hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Loris' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Marlboro County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loris will take on Mullins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions are facing the Auctioneers at the right time seeing as the Auctioneers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Marlboro County, they will be playing at home against Loris at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
