Hoover had won four straight home games and Alejandra Espino did her part to make it five on Tuesday. The Patriots sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Justin Garza Guardians thanks in part to Espino, who had six digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having also posted 12 or more assists the last three times she's played.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Hoover who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-12, 19-25, 27-25, 23-25, 15-7.

Despite the loss, Justin Garza still got an impressive performance from Maleeyah Walker, who had 26 digs and two aces. Nathalia Castro was another key player, getting nine digs and three aces.

Hoover's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Justin Garza, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.

Hoover wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against San Joaquin Memorial on the 24th. As for Justin Garza, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Madera on the 25th.
