Basketball Recap: Kaynin Poage Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pineywoods Community Academy

Pollok Central won the last time they faced Pineywoods Community Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pollok Central Bulldogs managed a 54-49 victory over the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pollok Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaynin Poage, who went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and five assists. Jake Matthews was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Pineywoods Community Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaziel Reyes, who posted 13 points along with six assists and five boards. Reyes has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Julian Viduarri, who earned eight points and three steals.

Pollok Central's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-13.

Pollok Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-33 loss against Central Heights on the 10th. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-32 victory against Woodville on the 11th.
