Softball Recap: Oak Hills Victorious

Oak Hills proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 17) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Serrano Diamondbacks 9-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 on April 10th.

Oak Hills got a great performance from CARSYN LEON as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. LEON has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oak Hills let AMAYA SIGALA and NATALIA MARTINS run wild. SIGALA went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while MARTINS went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave MARTINS a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JADE WHITMAN, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Oak Hills now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Serrano, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Oak Hills will welcome Hesperia at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Scorpions at the right time seeing as the Scorpions are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Serrano, they will venture away from home to square off against Burroughs at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Diamondbacks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Burros have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
