The Kearny Komets will head out on the road to challenge the Lincoln Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Kearny put up the most runs they have all season on Saturday. They came out on top against Francis Parker by a score of 13-10.

Nicolas Hembera was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Kearny's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 3-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Kearny always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lincoln came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Cardinals as they made off with a 13-4 win.
Isaiah Bartolome made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dominic Mendoza and Julio Ojeda did most of the damage at the plate: Mendoza went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Ojeda went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Mendoza a new career-high. Aladar Herrera was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Lincoln's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Kearny, their record now sits at 9-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kearny has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Kearny might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from Lincoln when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Komets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
