Preview: Rampart Rams vs. Pine Creek Eagles
Rampart is 2-8 against Pine Creek since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rampart Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pine Creek Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Rampart will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Pine Creek is ranked sixth).
Last Wednesday, Rampart came up short against Doherty and fell 57-49. Rampart has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Rampart saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emily Huxtable, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Huxtable hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Cailyn Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Pine Creek had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.6 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-37 victory over Vista Ridge at home. Pine Creek has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 28 points or more this season.
Rampart now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Pine Creek, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3.
Rampart was taken down by Pine Creek 75-29 in their previous matchup back in January. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rampart was down 41-13.
