Preview: Williamsville Bullets vs. Tolono Unity Rockets
The Williamsville Bullets will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Tolono Unity Rockets at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Williamsville was fully in charge, breezing past Auburn 51-22 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-8.
Braddock Cates was his usual excellent self, rushing for 330 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Josh Cates, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Tolono Unity entered their tilt with Monticello with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Tolono Unity blew past Monticello 47-23.
Tolono Unity's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Garrett Richardson led the charge by rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown. Dane Eisenmenger was another key contributor, throwing for 168 yards and three touchdowns.
Williamsville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Tolono Unity, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game Saturday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Williamsville has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 389.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Tolono Unity struggles in that department as they've been even better at 395.3 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Williamsville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Tolono Unity when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 12-7 victory. Will Williamsville repeat their success, or does Tolono Unity have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
