Softball Recap: Monta Vista Comes Up Short

Monta Vista extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 24 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They lost 13-0 to the Saratoga Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in April.

As for Saratoga, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games.

For Saratoga's part, Saira Ramakrishnan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ramakrishnan has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Saratoga got a big performance out of Alyssa Tham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alaina Retamoso, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Monta Vista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 24-8 loss against MacDonald on the 16th. As for Saratoga, they have also already played their next game, a 14-3 win against Fremont on the 16th.
