Basketball Recap: South Adams Sets Scoring Season-High Against Southern Wells

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Adams). They took down the Southern Wells Raiders 62-45 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Starfires.

Tytus Lehman was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 18 en route to 24 points along with eight boards and six assists. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Gavin Herring was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 17 points and three blocks.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: South Adams was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Southern Wells saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joshua Aulbach dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cj Reber, who posted 11 points and three steals.

South Adams' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Southern Wells, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

South Adams didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 31-29 victory against Whitko on the 1st. As for Southern Wells, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-52 loss against Lakeland Christian Academy on the 1st.
