Football Recap: Brody Metting Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Banquete

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Yorktown on Friday. Everything went their way against the Banquete Bulldogs as they made off with a 64-40 win. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Yorktown got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Metting out in front who rushed for 273 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 99 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 273 rushing yards gave Metting a new career-high. McKenzie Yanta was another key rusher, rushing for 186 yards and four scores.

Yorktown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Clayton Schendel and Brayden Knostman.

The win got Yorktown back to even at 1-1. As for Banquete, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yorktown will venture away from home to take on Skidmore-Tynan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Banquete, they will head out to face off against Pettus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
