Football Recap: Israel Cumbal's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cornerstone Charter Academy over Central Florida Christian Academy + How To Watch

If Cornerstone Charter Academy was riding high fresh off their 37-12 takedown of Trinity Prep last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ducks fell 32-24 to the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles on Friday. The Ducks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Cornerstone Charter Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Israel Cumbal, who rushed for 60 yards and one TD. Cumbal also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making nine total tackles and defending one pass. William Gough also helped out with an impressive 80 receiving yards.

Central Florida Christian Academy was led to victory by Jahmari Hammonds and Gavin Pritzkau. Hammonds rushed for 215 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, while Pritzkau threw for 285 yards and two TDs. Hammonds' longest rush was for an incredible 93 yards.

Cornerstone Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Charter Academy will welcome Christ's Church Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, they will take on Boca Raton Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Blazers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.57 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
