Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Eastside Catholic Crusaders

Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against Eastside Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Roosevelt Roughriders will head out to square off against the Eastside Catholic Crusaders at 8:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Roosevelt is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 66-29 victory over Lakeside. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Roughriders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Roosevelt had a senior duo take command as Caden Young posted 17 points and Anthony Washington had 16 points. That's the most points Young has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Ryan Towne, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Eastside Catholic beat Issaquah 53-44 on Thursday. The 53-point effort marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Eastside Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Roosevelt, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-3.

Roosevelt took a serious blow against Eastside Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 59-19. Can Roosevelt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
