Football Recap: Elizabeth Starts Season with Victory Against Glenwood Springs + How To Watch

Elizabeth had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Glenwood Springs Demons by a score of 23-14 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Elizabeth can attribute much of their success to Griffin Widhalm, who threw for 123 yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground. That's the most passing yards Widhalm has posted since back in August of 2024.

Elizabeth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in nine consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elizabeth will head out to challenge Sierra at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Glenwood Springs, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Summit at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
