Basketball Game Preview: Santa Paula Cardinals vs. Carpinteria Warriors

The Santa Paula Cardinals will challenge the Carpinteria Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Santa Paula's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Santa Paula challenged Kerman on Saturday. Santa Paula enjoyed a cozy 79-63 victory over Kerman. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Lions are ranked 839th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Carpinteria ended up a good deal behind Santa Ynez on Saturday and lost 80-65. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

Santa Paula is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Carpinteria, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Santa Paula didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Carpinteria in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 59-55 win.
