Basketball Recap: Hathaway Brown Comes Up Short

Hathaway Brown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Chardon Hilltoppers, falling 62-40. The Blazers were probably out for revenge after losing 58-56 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Hathaway Brown still got an impressive performance from Emily Morgan, who posted 17 points and five assists. Morgan is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jane Kennedy, who earned six points and three steals.

Morgan wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Hathaway Brown was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Cameron Gerlica, who went 9 of 17 en route to 24 points and three steals for Chardon. Those 24 points gave Gerlica a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilli Dillworth, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Hathaway Brown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Chardon, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Hathaway Brown has already played their next matchup, a 53-50 loss against North on the 19th. As for Chardon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-31 victory against South on the 25th.
