Football Recap: Broken Bow Savages vs. Sallisaw Black Diamonds
After flying high against Glenpool last Friday, Broken Bow came back down to earth. The Savages took a 40-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sallisaw Black Diamonds on Friday. The Savages were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Black Diamonds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Broken Bow lost, don't look at Greydon Howell. Despite the final result, he rushed for 127 yards and two scores on only eight carries, and also threw for 364 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt. Howell got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 64 yards. Jattairrius Neal also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.
Kase Adams had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 161 yards and two TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes for Sallisaw. The dominant performance also gave Adams a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Jackson Harris, who rushed for 119 yards and one score.
Having lost for the first time this season, Broken Bow fell to 4-1. As for Sallisaw, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Looking ahead, Broken Bow will challenge Stilwell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Savages will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sallisaw, they will square off against McLain Science & Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
