Basketball Recap: Nash Central Gets the Win

Nash Central was handed a 36-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-43 victory over the Southeast Halifax Trojans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-53 back in January.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was O'Tavion Arrington, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points. Adaveon Batchelor was another key player, putting up six points and ten rebounds.

Nash Central's win bumped their record up to 4-17. As for Southeast Halifax, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Nash Central and Southeast Halifax could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Nash Central will face off against Roanoke Rapids at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 282 places (551 vs. 269). Nash Central has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 16. Meanwhile, Southeast Halifax (ranked 579th) will meet Wilson Prep (ranked 173rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
