Softball Recap: Rouse Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Rouse ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Leander Lions 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 back in March.

Blakely Barber spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Delaney Vannoy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Madilynn George, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rouse kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are undefeated (7-0) when they post 11 or more hits.

Rouse's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Leander, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-9 record.

Rouse wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Lehman on the 11th. As for Leander, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-2 win against Lockhart on the 11th.
