Baseball Game Preview: Marlington Dukes vs. West Branch Warriors

For the second straight game, Marlington will face off against West Branch. The Dukes are taking a road trip to challenge the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marlington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so West Branch's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Marlington took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They never let West Branch get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dukes have posted against the Warriors since May 9, 2022.

The result came thanks to Sam Yoder's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marlington's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brock Woods, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Woods' first of the season.

West Branch's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Marlington, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
