Basketball Game Preview: Metro Academy Mavericks vs. St. James Academy Thunder

The Metro Academy Mavericks will head out to challenge the St. James Academy Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Metro Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Metro Academy picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over Mid-Missouri HomeSchool. Given Metro Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 69th in Kansas, while Mid-Missouri HomeSchool is ranked 205th in Missouri), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. James Academy came up short against Saint Thomas Aquinas on Friday and fell 69-57. The loss continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Saints: they've now lost four in a row.

St. James Academy now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Metro Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 20-11.

Metro Academy came up short against St. James Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 60-50. Can Metro Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
