The Imperial Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Holtville Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Imperial's victory against Southwest EC wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers skirted past the Eagles 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted against the Eagles since October 12, 2021.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Imperial who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-13, 17-25, 25-13, 20-25, 15-11.

Penny Rosas and Charlotte Urena were among the main playmakers for Imperial as the former had seven digs and two aces and the latter had nine digs. That's the most digs Urena has posted since back in September.
They weren't the only good servers: Imperial was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Holtville entered their tilt with Central on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 3-1. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Spartans on their court since September 30, 2023.
The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18.
Imperial's victory bumped their record up to 20-16. As for Holtville, they now have a winning record of 16-15.
Imperial was able to grind out a solid win over Holtville when the teams last played on October 1st, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
