Recap: Jefferson Saints vs. Middle Park Panthers
The Jefferson Saints entered their tilt with the Middle Park Panthers with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. Jefferson enjoyed a cozy 50-36 win over Middle Park on Thursday. That's two games straight that Jefferson has won by exactly 14 points.
Leading Jefferson to victory were Shya Guzman and T Nutter. Guzman scored 19 points, while Nutter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elexis Cochran, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Middle Park's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aubree Hanson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Mayte Alvarado who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. Alvarado continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Even though they lost, Middle Park were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only posted an assist.
Jefferson's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Middle Park, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.
Coincidentally, Jefferson and Middle Park will both be playing Bennett the next time they take the court. Middle Park will host Bennett at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Jefferson will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
