Softball Preview: Cranberry Area Berries vs. St. Marys Flying Dutch

The Cranberry Area Berries will head out on the road to face off against the St. Marys Flying Dutch at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Cranberry Area had just enough and edged Redbank Valley out 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for Cranberry Area.

Meanwhile, St. Marys stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Elk County Catholic. The high-scoring effort was just what St. Marys needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

St. Marys got a massive performance out of Molly Hanslovan, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jianna Gerg, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Cranberry Area pushed their record up to 4-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for St. Marys, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
