Basketball Recap: Lake Oconee Academy Falls Short of Charlton County in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lake Oconee Academy can now relate to. They took a hard 67-51 fall against the Charlton County Indians on Tuesday. The Titans have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Despite the loss, Lake Oconee Academy still got an impressive performance from Ansleigh Padgett, who posted 19 points along with five boards and three steals. That's the most steals Padgett has posted since back in February of 2024. Ella Strickland was another key player, putting up five points and six rebounds.

Charlton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trenity Hamilton led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. Hamilton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mahogany Steele, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 20 rebounds.

Lake Oconee Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Charlton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Lake Oconee Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Charlton County, they will venture away from home to challenge Randolph-Clay at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Randolph-Clay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.
